CRH, Ireland’s largest employer in Slovakia and leader of the local cement industry, launched a new production line for alternative fuels at its subsidiary company ecorec based in Pezinok. The use of alternative waste as fuel is essential for improving the environmental impact of CRH plants and reducing CO2 emissions overall. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Richard Sulík, Ambassador Hilda Ó Riain, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment Juraj Smatana, as well as the CEO of CRH for the region, Klaus Födinger, performed the formal opening ceremony.
