Urgent Appointment Service for Passport Renewal

Urgent Appointment Service for Passport Renewal – Mount Street, Cork and London.

If you need an urgent appointment to process a passport renewal application, we have an Urgent Appointment Service for Passport Renewal. This is available at our offices on Mount Street in Dublin 2, Cork and also our office in London.

To avail of this renewal service, applicants must first book an appointment to attend the public office in Mount Street, Dublin 2, Cork or London. This is a limited service and slots are allocated by appointment only on a first come, first served basis.

Applicants who have applied using Passport Express are able to make renewal appointments with the Urgent Appointment Service. Applicants who have made online applications may also make renewal appointments with the Urgent Appointment Service. However, where an online application is advanced through the entitlement process, the Passport Service may not be able to facilitate an appointment, and will cancel the appointment and refund the fee.

We will offer three types of appointment and a fee will apply to this appointment service relative to how quickly you require your passport. London offers a 5 day turnaround service only.

  1. Same day renewal service. These appointments can be booked 3 days in advance.
  2. Four day renewal service. These appointments can be booked 3 weeks in advance.
  3. Five day renewal service (London only). These appointments can be booked 3 weeks in advance.

First time applications are complex as entitlement to Irish citizenship must be established. The Passport Service also has to confirm the consent of all guardians to issue a passport to a child.

These cases are too complex to process at a public counter. Particular complexity relates to the process of applications from children born in Ireland after 2004 due to the need to verify entitlement for Irish citizenship.

You can book an appointment if you have applied by Passport Express but it could take a significant amount of time to refund you the cost of your Passport Express applications.

You can book an appointment if you have applied using Passport Online. However, where an online application is advanced through the entitlement process, the Passport Service may not be able to facilitate an appointment, and will cancel the appointment and refund the fee.

We cannot associate the documents that you submitted in support of your Passport Online or Express application with your Urgent Appointment Service application. You will have to bring the correct supporting documentation, if required. If you do not have the correct documents, we will not be able to assist you with issuing a passport.

If you can no longer attend your appointment, you can cancel it up to 24 hours in advance of the appointment. The confirmation email that you received contains a link to cancel your appointment.

If your appointment was part of multiple bookings, cancelling one appointment will cancel all of the bookings.

You cannot amend an appointment. If you can no longer attend your appointment, you must cancel and book a new appointment. All cancelled appointments will be refunded.

We do not require any evidence regarding the urgency of the case.

We will continue to process passports on the same day in cases of bereavement or serious medical requirement. This requires supporting documents depending on the case and only the passport fee is required in such cases.

Please contact our Customer Service Hub if you require a passport in an emergency.
