Ministers host Citizens' Dialogue at Maynooth University

Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee T.D., and Minister of European Affairs for France, Nathalie Loiseau, attended a Citizens' Dialogue at Maynooth University on Tuesday 20th February, as part of the Government's Future of Europe initiative.
The Ministers joined more than 300 students and staff for a debate moderated by John O'Brennan, Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration at the University.
In her opening address, Minister McEntee said "It is vital that Ireland brings its influence to bear on the future direction of the European Union. The EU is not perfect and responding to the needs and concerns of our citizens should be a priority. The EU must, therefore, look to its citizens for guidance to hear from them what they want from the EU and how they want it to work better for them."
The event is part of a larger, ongoing process of consultation and engagement on the Future of Europe being undertaken by the Government across Ireland. Upcoming regional dialogues are due to take place in Cork, Donegal and Meath, and will culminate in a National Dialogue on Europe Day, 9th May in Dublin.
