Lecture by Sociology Professor from University College Dublin on 28 October

Supported by the Embassy of Ireland on the centenary of Irish diplomatic outreach in 1919, the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts of the University in Ljubljana is hosting a lecture by Professor Siniša Malešević.

Siniša Malešević is a Full Professor of Sociology at the University College Dublin. He is an elected member of Royal Irish Academy and Academia Europaea. His recent books include Grounded Nationalisms: A Sociological Analysis (Cambridge University Press, 2019), The Rise of Organised Brutality: A Historical Sociology of Violence (Cambridge University Press, 2017, recipient of ASA book award in 2018), Nation-States and Nationalisms: Organisation, Ideology and Solidarity (Polity 2013) and The Sociology of War and Violence (Cambridge University Press, 2010). His publications have been translated into 11 languages.

The lecture ‘Small’ and ‘Great’ Nations – Nationalist Movements in Ireland and the Balkans (in English), will take place on 28 October 2019 at 9:40 in Lecture room 13 at the Faculty of Arts, Aškerčeva 1.

All are welcome to attend this event, up to the capacity of the hall.
