Presentation of Credentials

Presentation of Credentials

On 11 September 2018 H.E. Patrick Duffy presented his credentials to H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, officially commencing his term as Ambassador of Ireland. Ambassador Duffy succeeds Pádraig Mac Coscair who was Ambassador between 2014 and 2018. As two island nations, Ireland and Malta both recognise the importance of reaching beyond our shores. In this respect, the two states have enjoyed excellent relations over many years. Along with our strong bilateral relations, being two EU Member States continues to strengthen our shared values and goals.

Both countries have similar historical experiences accompanied by the use of English as a common language, with English being one of the two official languages in Malta. In 2018, Malta saw its first resident Ambassador to Ireland after ten years presenting his credentials to H.E Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland.
