Greening Chile

The "Greening" is an initiative that for 10 years, Irish embassies and Tourism Ireland have been undertaking in iconic locations around the world to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
This year, a new and spectacular venue was added to the list: the ESO Paranal Observatory near Antofagasta in the Atacama Desert. Ireland joined the ESO (European Southern Observatory) in September 2018, ensuring that Irish astronomers and researchers could have access to the Observatory's world-class facilities in Chile.
In addition, together with the Municipality of Santiago we illuminated the Plaza de Armas, in the city of Santiago de Chile.
We are very grateful to the ESO and to the Municipality of Santiago for supporting us in this initiative!
Este año, un nuevo y espectacular lugar se ha incorporado a la misma: el Observatorio Paranal de ESO, cerca de Antofagasta en el desierto de Atacama. Irlanda se unió al ESO (European Southern Observatory) en septiembre de 2018, lo que asegura que los astrónomos e investigadores irlandeses puedan acceder a las instalaciones de primera clase del Observatorio en Chile.
Además, junto a la Municipalidad de Santiago hemos iluminado la Plaza de Armas, ubicado en el Km 0 de la ciudad de Santiago de Chile.
