Exhibition of Renowned Irish Artist Eamon Colman, Vienna, 24 February
This Friday 24 February, renowned Irish artist Eamon Colman will open a new exhibition in the Stern Studio at Mayergasse 7, 1020 Wien. Born in Dublin in 1957, Eamon studied at the Trinity College Art Workshops followed by a night degree in the Education Course at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. He has been a full time painter for over thirty years and has held over thirty-seven solo exhibitions within Ireland and Internationally.
His awards include a one-year residency to India by The Calcutta Artists Union; First Prize for Painting at E.V.& A in 1998; Residency Award to the uninhabited Artic Circle Island of Hirsholmene awarded the Danish Arts Council in 1998. In 2001 he won First Prize Painting in Eigse – Carlow Arts Festival and was the first Irish artist to win a Full Fellowship to The Vermont Studio Center in 2001. In 2005 he won a CCAT Inteereg Major Touring Award to tour exhibitions in Wales.
Between 1993 and 2004 he was Chairman of The Artists Association of Ireland, board member of The Sculptors Society of Ireland and The Butler Gallery in Kilkenny. He is a former President of the European Council of Artists - a European political lobby group campaigning for the working rights of all artists. His work has featured as part of major group exhibitions in Belgium, Canada, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, Singapore and the USA.
The opening is from 19:00-22:00 and will be launched by Ambassador Hanney. All are welcome to attend. The exhibition will run from Feb 24 – March 26.
