From Isolation - Inspiration

The Consulate General of Ireland, Edinburgh was delighted to take part in Embassy London’s From Isolation - Inspiration, a series of videos from artists across these islands designed to inspire and bring solace and cheer in these testing times. Four fantastic artists from Scotland took part in the series.

Watch Ambassador O'Neill's introductory message to find out more.

From Edinburgh, Irish pianist Mary McCarthy played a piece from the music of Turlough O’Carolan, “last of the Irish bards”.

From Glasgow, Irish mezzo-soprano Carolyn Holt transported us from isolation to the Sally Gardens.

From Inverness, the Irish-Scottish singer-songwriter duo Brian Ó hEadhra & Fiona Mackenzie - via Dublin and Isle of Lewis -performed a song inspired by the adventures of Brendan the Navigator.

And our final Scottish participant, Edinburgh-based Irish poet, Anne Connolly, brought us her poem “Homemade”, whisking some air into our spirits to lift them.
