21 February 2022The Musical Accompaniment to the Exhibition 'Who Do We Say We Are?' Takes Place on April 22nd with the Seamus Egan Project performance at the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame
This live musical performance in the States of Modernity series is a rich interpretation of the works on view in the Snite Museum’s newest exploration of Ireland, Who Do We Say We Are? Irish Art 1922 | 2022.
New music commissioned and recorded especially for this exhibition by the Seamus Egan Project focuses on the synergies between art, music and poetry. Co-producers Marty Fahey, curator of the O’Brien Collection, and Liz Carroll, composer and All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, interpret themes of national identity and the diaspora represented by the art on view in the galleries.
With paintings by iconic Modern and Contemporary artists exploring Irish themes of nation-building and identity from the O’Brien Collection in Chicago and a special focus exhibition of photographs by the internationally recognized artist Amelia Stein, RHA, the exhibition and album are part of the larger project www.dfa.ie/statesofmodernity.
This event promises to be one of the most significant in the States of Modernity series. It is a free event, however spaces are limited and registration is required. We hope you can join the Consulate, the Snite Museum and the musicians who have shared their musical talent to make this event central to the story of Ireland's journey from 1922 to today.
April 22nd, Snite Museum of Art, University of Notre Dame, 3 pm - 4:30 pm Eastern Time.
