Sat Jan 14 at 1.30 pm: In the library of the Irish American Heritage Center The Great Irish Book Club is reading ‘Charlotte and Arthur’ by Pauline Clooney “a fantastic recreation of Charlotte Bronte’s honeymoon in Ireland” – Liz Nugent.
Fri Jan 20 at 8 pm: Wallis Bird performs at Judson and Moore. Bird, from Enniscorthy, combines elements of traditional folk music, blues, and funk with a rock sound. Her style ranges from soft folk to power ballads. “The sheer visceral energy could kick-start an entire economy…” – The Irish Times.
Fri Feb 10 at 8 pm at The Old Town School of Folk Music: Anna Meike the Irish multi-instrumentalist and songwriter based in Wicklow, Ireland performs her lyrically ornate and instrumentally delicate work, alongside flowing atmospheric arrangements, contributing her emphatic and new voice to alt-folk.

Feb 2 at 7 pm: Playing the Border and the Ball: Northern Ireland - from Partition to the World Cup - A cultural lecture at CelticMKE about Northern Ireland, its partition, and the 1958 World Cup, with Dr. Tim McMahon and Dr. Abigail Bernhardt. Tickets $5.
Feb 15-18 (check for exact date) Kevin Brady Electric Quartet performs at Lawrence University, Appleton, WI and also at Studio Z Jazz Club, St. Paul, MN. Irish drummer Kevin Brady is critically acclaimed for his performances with international artists and as the leader of piano trio featuring Bill Carruthers, winning appreciation of discerning jazz audiences worldwide.

Jan 26 & 27 at 7.30 pm:Celtic Junction presents an innovative fusion of traditional music and dance from West Africa and Ireland Cumar (“Confluence” in Irish Gaelic) in an exuberant celebration of multi-cultural collaboration.

IOWA
Feb 18 at 8 pm: The Drowsy Lads at Franklin Junior High, Des Moines IA. This critically acclaimed Irish-American Folk band brings unique energy and pure friendship to their live show that is rarely seen. Named as the 2018 “The Best Irish-American Band”.
