UK Referendum on EU membership

On 23 June, the UK electorate will go to the polls to decide whether the UK should remain as a member of the European Union, or if it should leave.

Ireland has a unique perspective and interest in the outcome of the referendum: as the UK’s closest neighbour, sharing a land border; as partners in transforming British-Irish relations in recent years; and as facilitators and co-guarantors of successive agreements aimed at securing peace and prosperity in Northern Ireland. However, this referendum result is, of course, solely a matter for the UK electorate to decide.
