Dia dhaoibh go léir. Fáilte go hAmbasáid na hÉireann!
I am delighted to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Ireland in Zambia. We hope that you will find interesting news updates on the work of the Embassy, clear guidance on consular services and a better understanding of Ireland’s engagement in Zambia.
Since July 2021, I have had the pleasure to serve as Ireland’s Ambassador to the Republic of Zambia and I look forward to deepening the relationship between our two countries. It has been over 40 years since Ireland opened its Embassy here in Zambia and in that time our bilateral relations have grown based on a strong foundation of development cooperation as well as political engagement advancing our shared values and interests.
While the Embassy was established in 1980, the connections between our two countries date back many decades. Irish people, including missionaries have supported Zambia’s development in the areas of education and health in particular.
Today, Ireland’s relationship with Zambia is built on the values of partnership, mutual respect and openness. Our policy priorities with Government, UN, EU and NGOs include gender equality, good governance and human rights, peace and security as well as addressing and responding to the impacts of climate change.
The Embassy is also accredited to the Republic of Namibia and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The Embassy is committed to engaging with our people in Zambia, acknowledging the changing face of the Irish diaspora community here. We look forward to arranging future cultural and social events for the broader Irish community and our friends here in Zambia where will have an opportunity for deepening the culture exchange between our two countries.
