Prospects for the Vietnamese Economy 2021-2025

Ms. Elisa Cavacece, Deputy Head of Mission addressed the opening of the workshop “Prospects for the Vietnamese Economy 2021-2025: Opportunities and Challenges from New Generation Free Trade Agreements”.
The workshop was organised by the National Centre for Socio-Economic Information and Forecasting (NCIF) of the Ministry of Planning and Investment. The workshop gathered international and national experts to discuss issues critical to Vietnam’s economic development in the context of New Generation Free Trade Agreements.
Professor John FitzGerald from Trinity College Dublin had a presentation on “Modelling and Forecasting the Vietnam economy at a national and a regional level”. Professor FitzGerald has been working with NCIF since 2009 in building macroeconomic modelling for Vietnam.
The workshop was funded by the Embassy of Ireland under the Irish Development Experience Sharing Programme (IDEAS).
The IDEAS programme was established to create linkages between Vietnamese officials and organisations and their Irish counterparts in areas including economic management, governance and private sector development.
The Programme is jointly managed by the Embassy of Ireland and Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
As an EU Member State, Ireland is keen to work with Vietnam to ensure that both countries benefit mutually from the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

Bà Elisa Cavacece, Phó Đại sứ Ireland đã phát biểu khai mạc Hội thảo "Viễn cảnh Kinh tế Việt Nam giai đoạn 2021-2025: Cơ hội và Thách thức từ những Hiệp định tự do thương mại thế hệ mới".
Hội thảo được Trung tâm Dự báo Kinh tế Xã hội Quốc gia, Bộ Kế hoạch và Đầu tư tổ chức. Hội thảo quy tụ các chuyên gia trong nước và quốc tế cùng thảo luận về những vấn đề then chốt cho sự phát triển kinh tế của Việt Nam khi Việt Nam tham gia nhiều hiệp định tự do hóa thương mại thế hệ mới.
Giáo sư John FitzGerald từ Trinity College Dublin có bài trình bày về “Mô hình và Dự báo kinh tế Việt Nam cấp quốc gia và khu vực”. Giáo sư FitzGerald đã hợp tác và hỗ trợ NICF từ năm 2019 trong việc xây dựng mô hình kinh tế vĩ mô cho Việt Nam.
Hội thảo do Đại sứ quán Ireland tài trợ trong khuôn khổ Chương trình Chia sẻ Kinh nghiệm Phát triển của Ireland cho Việt Nam (IDEAS).
Chương trình IDEAS được xây dựng để tạo ra mối liên kế giữa các tổ chức và cán bộ của Việt Nam với các đối tác Ireland trong nhiều lĩnh vực như quản lý kinh tế, thúc đẩy quản trị và phát triển khu vực tư nhân. Chương trình do Đại Sứ quán Ireland và Bộ Kế hoạch đầu tư đồng quản lý.
Là một quốc gia thành viên của Liên minh châu Âu, Ireland chú trọng hợp tác với Việt Nam để đảm bảo cả hai bên đều được hưởng lợi từ Hiệp định Thương mại tự do EU - Việt Nam.
