Ambassador Neary addresses the 20th Conference of the OPCW

03 December 2015

From the 30 November- 4 December, the 20th Conference of States Parties to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) took place in The Hague. Ambassador Neary opened Ireland’s national statement by noting the enormous progress made in ridding the world of chemical weapons since their first large-scale use during World War I.

Ireland Netherlands Business Association annual dinner

The Ireland Netherlands Business Association held its annual gala dinner on 18 November at the Hotel Sofitel Legend the Grand Amsterdam. Over 100 key Irish and Dutch business players attended with strong support from The Hague Embassy, Irish Design 2015, Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia and Tourism Ireland. 

Ambassador hosts reception for Irish students

On 16 November 2015, Ambassador Neary hosted a reception for Irish students who are currently studying in The Netherlands. Approximately 50 undergraduate and postgraduate students from four universities and colleges attended.

Ambassador visits Friesland to explore cooperation on water technology and dairy research

On 15 November, at the invitation of the King’s Representative, Mr John Jorritsma, Ambassador Neary visited Water Alliance and Water Campus, and Dairy Campus, to explore opportunities for increasing cooperation between Ireland and the Netherlands in the fields of water technology and dairy research.

Minister Nash TD launches Liminal - Irish Design at the Threshold at Dutch Design Week

From 21-22 October 2015, the Embassy hosted a two-day visit to Rotterdam and Eindhoven from an Irish Design 2015 delegation headed by Minister of Business and Employment Ged Nash TD. The delegation met with leading figures in Dutch design to learn about government policy in the area and the infrastructure in place in The Netherlands to support the creative industries.

Tradfest Belgium

Our colleagues at Embassy of Ireland in Brussels will run Belgium’s first ever traditional Irish music festival between 10-14 June, 2015. TRADFEST Belgium 2015 will see an explosion of vibrant Irish music across Brussels this June with over 50 contributors spread across 10 venues. For more details see TRADFEST Belgium 2015.
