Ambassador Aoife McGarry presents credentials to President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset
On Tuesday, 5 September 2023, Ambassador Aoife McGarry presented her credentials to President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, during an official ceremony at the Federal Palace in Berne.
Ambassador McGarry and President Berset discussed shared interests between both countries, with the Ambassador committed to further strengthening the existing strong relationship between Ireland and Switzerland over the coming years.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador McGarry said:
“It is a great honour to be appointed Ambassador of Ireland to Switzerland, and I look forward to the years ahead working in this role. Is mór an onóir dom a bheith ceaptha mar Ambasadóir na hÉireann don Eilvéis, agus tá mé ag tnúth go mór leis na blianta atá romham sa phost seo.”
Ambassdor McGarry was accompanied by her husband, Connor Murphy, and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ireland, David McDonnell.
