Lost/Stolen passports in Slovenia/Bosnia and Herzegovina

If your passport was lost, stolen or damaged while on holiday

If your Passport or Passport Card has been lost, stolen or damaged, you must submit a full paper passport application in order to get an Emergency Travel Document.

You must report the loss or theft of your passport to your nearest police station immediately.

Do not, under any circumstances, try to travel on a passport or passport card that has been reported as lost, stolen or damaged.

Submit your paper application to the Embassy, making sure you complete Section 6 of the application form explaining how your previous passport was lost/stolen or damaged. You must have Section 6 witnessed and stamped as per the instructions on the application form.

Minimum requirements to apply for an Emergency Travel Document:

  • Fully witnessed Application Form.
  • Two passport photographs.
  • Proof of your travel arrangements.
  • Alternative photo identification, e.g. student card, driver's license, work ID, social club membership, passport from other country, etc.
  • The relevant Fee

Depending on your situation, we may require additional evidence in support of your application, such as additional proof of name and address.

Please bear in mind this service is not available outside of office hours except in case of emergency (urgent travel such as the death or serious illness of a family member). You may need to arrange a new flight to allow you time to obtain a travel document.

Passport lost or stolen - resident Irish citizen

If you are resident in Slovenia/Bosnia & Herzegovina and your passport has been stolen or lost, you must report the loss or theft to your nearest police station immediately.

Do not, under any circumstances, try to travel on a passport or passport card that has been reported as lost, stolen or damaged.

Any application submitted to the passport service to replace a lost or stolen passport or passport card cannot be cancelled even if the lost or stolen passport is subsequently recovered.
