Irish community in Norway

There are many Irish people living and working in Norway who continue to make a positive contribution to our country, whether by building economic development, raising awareness of our culture or by creating a positive image of Ireland.

The Norwegian Irish Society has been doing great work since 2009 to meeting the needs of the Irish and the friends of Ireland living in and around the Oslo region. Similarly, the Bergen Irish Society has been very active on behalf of the Irish community on the west coast of the country.

Emigrant Support Programme

We provide grants to Irish organisations in Norway and across the world, focusing in particular on the most vulnerable of our emigrants.

Presidential Award

The Presidential Distinguished Service Award for the Irish Abroad recognises sustained, distinguished service to Ireland, its communities abroad or its international reputation by those living abroad.

Irish Culture

Promoting Irish culture is an important part of the Embassy's work. We work with key organisations to enhance the opportunities to enjoy Irish culture, including music, poetry theatre and film.

St. Patrick's Day

Saint Patrick’s Day is a global celebration of what it means to be Irish and the Embassy uses the opportunity every March to celebrate with Irish communities and to showcase Ireland.
