The 2019 NZ Irish Feis will be a celebration of our combined culture, dancing and sport. We're planning a multicultural, family friendly and free event to welcome all from Otautahi- Christchurch.
2019 will be the 69th year the NZ Irish Feis has been held in New Zealand. The task of hosting the event is shared amongst the Irish Societies in New Zealand, with each society taking it's turn to host the event. Many of the Feis trophies have existed for decades and represent many years of Irish/NZ Feis history.
Kicking off with a ceili on Friday evening, and finishing with an award ceremony on Sunday evening, the 2019 NZ Irish Feis will include men’s gaelic football, ladies football, hurling, camogie, Irish dancing, vocal, instrumental and speech and drama competitions, kids skills sessions, bouncy castles, face painting and sausage sizzle.
The highlight of our dance programme will be the Ulster Cup, a major prestigious class and award for the 18+ dancers. We're actively encouraging Non Registered Dancing Schools to come on board and participate.
