The Embassy’s History

The history of the Irish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Ireland and Malaysia have had diplomatic relations since 1974. Ireland opened a resident embassy in Malaysia in 1995, and the Embassy has been located in the Amp Walk Building on Jalan Ampang since that time. The decision to open Ireland’s first resident Embassy in Southeast Asia here in Malaysia was taken due to Ireland and Malaysia’s close historical links, particularly in the field of education.
