The Children from Operation Shamrock/Die „Operation Shamrock“-Kinder

The Embassy of Ireland is delighted to present "The Children from Operation Shamrock", a project by journalist Monica Brandis, assisted by photographer Sidharta Corral and graphic designer Frank Lietz.

J.M. Synge Exhibition opens at the Embassy of Ireland, Berlin

19 October at 6.30pm

On Monday, 19 October, the German-Irish Society of Würzburg and the city of Würzburg are proud to present an exhibition of John Millington Synge’s photographs, taken on his travels in Wicklow.

120 years ago in 1894, John Millington Synge studied for several months at the Royal School of Music in Würzburg. The exhibition celebrates the city of Würzburg’s double partnership with Bray and Co. Wicklow. To celebrate this exhibition and the unique flavour of German-Irish friendship, Würzburg International, the city’s international office has organised a tasting of Franconian wine at the opening!

Vernissage von J.M. Synge in der Botschaft von Irland, Berlin

19. Oktober um 18.30 Uhr

Die Botschaft von Irland freut sich die Fotografien von John Millington Synge auszustellen. Die Ausstellung zeigt Bilder, die auf der Reise von J.M. Synge nach Wicklow entstanden sind.

Vor 120 Jahren, im Jahr 1894, studierte Synge für einige Monate an der Hochschule für Musik Würzburg.

Die Deutsch-Irische Gesellschaft Würzburg und die Stadt Würzburg stellte die Werke bereits letztes Jahr anlässlich der 15-jährigen Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Würzburg und Bray, Co. Wicklow aus.

Temporary Admin/Consular Support Position at the Embassy of Ireland, Berlin

Postal Strike Update

The postal strike is over but there are still backlogs in the Embassy receiving post and in the delivery of post we send out.

Der Streik der Deutschen Post ist beendet. Es kommt jedoch immer noch zu Verspätungen beim Empfang und Senden von Post.

Postal Strike Update

Due to the ongoing postal strike in Germany, applications for passports/visas sent to the Embassy by post are not being received. Further, if you wish to have documents returned to you please arrange for a courier to do so and contact the Embassy to identify a pick-up time.

Aufgrund der gegenwärtigen Streikmaßnahmen bei der Deutschen Post, kommt es zu erheblichen Verzögerungen der Lieferung von Pass- und Visumsanträgen an die Botschaft. Falls Sie wünschen, dass Ihnen Dokumente zurückgesendet werden, organisieren Sie bitte einen Kurierservice (nach Absprache mit der Botschaft) oder setzen sich mit der Botschaft in Verbindung um einen Abholtermin zu vereinbaren.

Join us on Tuesday, 16 June for a celebration of Joyce, Yeats and Irish literature and music! Dr. Sabine Müller, University of Leipzig will draw some connections between the works of two of Ireland’s greatest writers, author John Holten will read from his work, there will be performance by Curious Fox Books and Nina Hynes and Shaun Mulrooney will provide the music. Curated by Candice Gordon, this promises to be an informative and entertaining event! Burgundy and gorgonzola sandwiches will be served!

Tuesday, 16 June, 12.30-15.00, doors open at 12 noon.

Bungalow Bliss: A Rural Modernity

04 June 2015, 5pm

Opening reception of “Bungalow Bliss: A Rural Modernity” by Adrian Duncan & Olga Tiernan.

The exhibition includes a series of photographic, collage, and sculptural works that unearth features of the Bungalow Bliss period of domestic construction that took place throughout rural Ireland from the early 1970s to late '90s.

The exhibition will run 5 June – 1 July 2015

Cellu l’art Film Festival

21-26 April 2015

The Cellu l’art International Short Film Festival will take place in Jena from 21-26 April 2015. This year Ireland is the Festival’s Focus country. Presidential Distinguished Service Award for the Irish Abroad

The Presidential Distinguished Service Award for the Irish Abroad is presented by the President every year. It recognises the service given to Ireland or to Irish communities abroad by those who live outside Ireland. Nominations for the Presidential Distinguished Service Award are made through Ireland’s Embassy network. The closing date for receipt of nominations by Embassy Berlin is Wednesday, 22nd April 2015.
