Turnaround times – How quickly can I get a passport?

Information on turnaround times for Irish citizens resident in Brazil.

The current standard processing time is approximately 6-8 weeks.

A temporary passport can be issued on the day only in the case of an emergency situation (the death or serious illness of a family member).

In all other circumstances, you will have to wait a minimum of five working days to get a temporary passport. Valid proof of confirmed travel (e.g. airline ticket/email) must be presented in order for any application to be processed sooner than the standard turnaround. You may incur an additional fee. Please contact us immediately if you require a passport urgently.

We also provide assistance if you are on holiday in Brazil and your passport has been lost or stolen.
