Irish State Visit to Britain - Ceiliúradh

The Cultural highlight of first State Visit by the President of Ireland to Britain will be streamed online live at 21:25 on Thursday 10th April.

On the historic occasion of the first State Visit by the President of Ireland to Britain, President Michael D. Higgins will be the guest of honour at ‘Ceiliúradh’ in the Royal Albert Hall, a unique evening of shared stories, music, song and dance. Given the historic nature of the visit and its significance to the Irish community in Britain and around the world, arrangements have been made to broadcast the event live on RTÉ player.


Where you can watch Ceiliúradh

The event will be streamed live internationally on RTÉ Player on Thursday 10th of April from 21:25 (20:25 GMT) RTÉ Player

In addition, RTÉ 1 will present a 2 hour programme on the concert from 22:15, which will subsequently become available on the RTÉ Player.

RTÉ Radio 1 will broadcast the concert live and online. RTÉ Radio 1

BBC4 will present a highlights programme, “Ultimate Irish Music at the Royal Albert Hall: A Presidential Celebration” on BBC 4 at 20:00 on Sunday 13th of April. BBC4


More about Ceiliúradh (Celebration)

This concert will showcase the strong artistic and creative links that exist between Ireland and the United Kingdom, as well as recognising the significant contribution of the Irish community in Britain. In the presence of the President of Ireland, some of Ireland's finest musicians, singers, actors, authors and poets will feature in this unique evening. Special guests include Paul Brady, The Gloaming, Glen Hansard and Imelda May. Also participating will be the renowned actress Fiona Shaw and broadcasters Dermot O'Leary, Olivia O'Leary and author Joseph O'Connor. Read more
