Irish Soprano Salzburg Festival (10-29 August)

Irish mezzo-soprano Tara Erraught makes her Salzburg Festival debut singing the role of Siébel in the Festival's new production of Gounod's Faust with the Vienna Philharmonic this August.

Her performance in Salzburg is hot on the heels of her role debut, this June, as Susanna in the Bayerische Staatsoper’s production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro which was followed by the company’s final season performances of its commissioned world premiere, Miroslav Srnka’s South Pole.

A native of Dundalk, Tara has won awards across Europe and America and in 2013 she became the youngest musician ever to have won the prestigious Bavarian state government’s Pro meritis scientiae et litterarum award, which is given annually to up to eight individuals for outstanding contributions to science and the arts. Previous winners include soprano Julia Varady and conductor Zubin Mehta.

We at the Austrian Embassy wish her the very best in Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart.
