The exhibition ‘Connections’ by Irish Design as part of the Year of Irish Design 2015 is on display at Stilwerk, Vienna, for the remainder of December. The 3D capsule exhibition features work by various Irish designers engaging with the theme “life and culture”.
The exhibition was officially opened by Ambassador Mary Whelan together with the Stilwerk centre manager Oliver Werbach.
Connections consists of a capsule exhibition, a design library and the Design Island photographic exhibition, collectively showcasing the work of over 50 Irish designers and design companies. The exhibition was developed by Irish Design 2015 (ID2015) in partnership with the Trade Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to highlight the quality of Irish design abroad, to forge links with the international design community, drive job creation and grow our export market.
Connections presents two linked perspectives: Irish design that connects with the world and design that is shaping modern Ireland. The exhibition aims to provide an insight into Ireland’s warmth and values and to show the unexpected ways the Irish help define experiences and relationships around the world. Connections features diverse design projects that resonate across the world in a variety of places, purposes and contexts and similar projects that are indicative of the modern Irish experience.
The exhibition focuses on “Life and Culture”, and features works by eminent designers including John Hill, Steve Simpson, Orla Kiely and many more.
