Visit by Ambassador Anderson to Minneapolis - St. Paul

Ambassador of Ireland to the USA, H.E. Anne Anderson made an official visit to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis – St. Paul on 27th - 30th May.

The Ambassador’s programme included events with the Irish Community and a range political and business meetings.

The Ambassador met with the Irish community at a reception at St. Paul’s Celtic Junction, featuring Irish music and dance, spoke on Ireland-US relations at the Minnesota International Center and visited the Irish-founded University of St. Thomas, meeting University President Julie Sullivan.

At a visit to the Minnesota History Center hosted by St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, the Mayor presented the Ambassador with a rainbow flag in honour of Ireland’s recent same-sex marriage referendum.

Ambassador Anderson also met with US medical device manufacturer Medtronic, which has its HQ in Ireland, and acknowledged the strong economic relationship between Minnesota and Ireland.
