Tánaiste & Minister of State McEntee welcome Dutch Foreign Minister Mr. Stef Blok

welcome Minsiter of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Stef Blok to Ireland


The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney T.D., and Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee, T.D., will today meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Stef Blok, who is visiting Ireland.

The Tánaiste will host a bilateral dinner for Minister Blok at which they discuss Brexit and global issues such as the Middle East Peace Process and relations with Africa.

In advance of the meeting, the Tánaiste said:

“Ireland and the Netherlands have an excellent bilateral relationship. We work together in the European Union, but also in international fora including the United Nations. I look forward to discussing our cooperation and shared agendas including the Middle East peace process and EU relations with Africa.”

Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee T.D. and representatives from InterTradeIreland and Cooperation Ireland will join Minister Blok on a visit to the border and host a working lunch.

Ahead of the visit, Minister McEntee said:

“I welcome the visit of Minister Blok and look forward to joining him on his visit to the border where we will discuss the impact that Brexit could have on the border region. We appreciate the Dutch solidarity during the Brexit process. The Netherlands is a valued partner and we share similar views on many issues on the broader EU agenda. The visit will be a useful opportunity to exchange views on these matters.”
