New Ambassadors Present Credentials14 September 2010
Their Excellencies the Ambassador of Chile, the Ambassador of France, the Ambassador of Estonia and the Ambassador of Israel presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
H.E. Mr. Leonel Fernando Searle, Ambassador of Chile, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Luz Maria Ariztia, his son, Felipe, and Mr. Cristian Oschilewski, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul.
H.E. Mrs. Emmanuelle d’Achon, Ambassador of France, was accompanied by her husband, Mr. Jean-Eudes d’Achon, and Mrs. Aurélie Bonal, First Counsellor at the Embassy.
H.E. Mr. Mait Martinson, Ambassador of Estonia, was accompanied by Mrs. Tiina Väärtmaa, Deputy Head of Mission.
H.E. Mr. Boaz Modai, Ambassador of Israel, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Nurit Tinari-Modai, his sons, Yoav and Nadav, and Mrs. Ruth Zakh, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission.
Ms. Mary White, T.D., Minister of State with responsibility for Equality, Human Rights and Integration at the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs represented the Government at the ceremony.
The following were also present: Mr. Adrian O’Neill, Secretary-General to the President, Mr. Peter Gunning, Assistant Secretary, Ms. Kathleen White, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Ms. Cliona Manahan, Deputy Chief of Protocol and Ms. Marion O’Donnell, Assistant Chief of Protocol, at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, under the command of Lieutenant Ciaran Dillon.
The Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by troops drawn from the 4th Field Artillery Regiment, Columb Barracks, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, under the command of Lieutenant Ross McKeown.
The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Captain Fergal Carroll.
