Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Simon Coveney T.D. visited The Hague on 10 April, where he met with his counterpart, the newly appointed Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok. The Tánaiste attended a meeting of the European Affairs Committee of the Tweede Kammer (Dutch House of Representatives), where he and the committee members engaged in an informative exchange of views on matters relating to Brexit.
The Tánaiste also addressed a large gathering of diplomats, government officials, academics, journalists and members of the Irish community on the subject of ‘A Shared Agenda: Sustaining the Good Friday Agreement in the context of Brexit’. The well-received speech was followed by a Q&A session with the audience, in which the Tánaiste underscored the Irish government’s commitment to protecting the Good Friday Agreement and his appreciation for the strong solidarity of European partners in Brexit negotiations to date.
