Law students from University College Cork visit the Embassy of Ireland
On 2 March 2017, a group of students from University College Cork’s Law Society visited the Embassy of Ireland to learn more about diplomacy and our engagement with the international institutions based in The Hague.
On 2 March, a group of second and third year students from UCC’s Law Society visited the Embassy of Ireland as part of a three-day trip to The Hague to learn more about the International City of Peace and Justice.
The Embassy was delighted to host the students and assist them in their studies, presenting to the group on the role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ireland’s foreign policy objectives and the day-to-day work of a diplomat posted to a mission abroad.
In addition to this, the Embassy also provided an overview of the different international legal institutions based in The Hague, including the International Criminal Court and Organisation for the Prohibitions of Chemical Weapons, and explained Ireland’s role as a States Party to these institutions.
The students were incredibly engaging and we were very impressed by the insights and contributions that they had to offer. We would like to thank them for their interest in the work of the Embassy and wish them the best of luck with their studies.
