Video: Women in Liberation Event

The Embassy of Ireland in Tanzania hosted an exhibition and panel discussion on the theme of Women in Liberation Struggles. Irish academic,  historian and expert on women in 1916, Mary McAuliffe, joined Tanzanian panellists to discuss the role of women in liberation in both Ireland and Tanzania.

Panellists were:

Biubwa Amour Zahor, Zanzibar political activist during the Independence period

Prof. Penina Mlama Mwalimu JK Nyerere Professorial Chair in Pan-African Studies, University of Dar es Salaam

Eda Sanga, first women journalist in Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation and Executive Director of Tanzania Media Women Association.

 

The discussion took place at the National Museum, Dar es Salaam, on 19th May, and was moderated by journalist and filmmaker Tulanana Bohela.
