Sponsored by the Embassy of Ireland, the Summit brought together national and international ICT stakeholders to share best practices in developing an information society and in harnessing the potential of ICT for national socio-economic development.

The Summit provided a platform for stakeholders from Tanzania and Ireland to share knowledge and experiences on the use of ICT to attain good governance, and better business and investment environments, and to improve the provision of quality services in Tanzania.

Among the innovative ideas presented at the Summit were a soil macronutrients monitoring and control system based on wireless sensor networks, adapting mobile technologies for small and medium enterprises, and a mobile educational platform.

The Summit built on the success of the inaugural ICT Summit in 2013, attracting a broader range of participants from academia, government and private sector and further strengthening the relationship between IFM and DIT.

The Summit was officially opened by Professor Fausting Kamuzora, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications, with a vote of thanks provided by Ambassador Gilsenan.
