The partnership will focus on women’s participation in the upcoming general elections. To this end, the Embassy has awarded a €240,000 grant to WFT’s Women Rights Promotion in Election and Post-Election Processes in Tanzania project.

The eighteen month project will contribute towards supporting more effective and representative electoral processes, with a particular focus on women, hard-to-reach areas, and other marginalised groups. Specific objectives include providing gender sensitive civic education to women and men in selected communities, and enhancing the mobilisation of women to turn out to vote.

The project will benefit over 65 women’s rights organisations who form the Wanawake na Katiba/Elections Coalition. They will receive training and small grants to conduct civic education and mobilisation as part of the project.
