Ambassador Speaks at Launch of 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence

Today is the first day of the global campaign, 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence. The official campaign launch was hosted by WiLDAF, and Ambassador Gilsenan was honoured to be among the guests invited to speak. Addressing the crowd, Ambassador Gilsenan noted that:

"the 16 Days of Action has a special significance for me, reflecting the importance I attach to eliminating violence against women and children. It is problem that affects all our societies; to change it requires leadership and courage. It requires commitment to speak openly even though many taboos remain in talking about the prevalence of and damage caused by violence against women and children".
