Bloomsday 2017 celebrations in Spain

The Bloomsday Society and the Yeats Society in Madrid have joined forces to celebrate the day on which Leopold Bloom traversed through Dublin in James Joyce's Ulysses with a collection of readings, poetry and song. This special event will take place at the María Pandora cultural café (Plaza Gabriel Miró 1) on Friday 16 June at 19.30. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the entertainment.

The James Joyce pub in Madrid will be kicking off their Bloomsday celebrations from 13.30 on Friday 16th June. Everyone is welcome to join in.

Desperate Literature Bookshop in Madrid will also be celebrating Bloomsday from 20.30 onwards on Friday June 16, with an exhibition of James Joyce inspired artworks, music and readings. For more information please visit https://www.facebook.com/events/1297485720372711/.

The University in Zaragoza will also participate in the celebrations for Bloomsday with readings and music to enrichen the evening of Friday 16 June, from 7pm onwards. Please see invitation for more details.

The first ever Bloomsday celebration in Agulo on the island of La Gomera will take place on Sunday 18 June at 19.00, in La Casa del pintor José Aguiar García. It will be an international event with renowned poets, writers and visual artists from many countries taking part.
