Global Greening 2015

Ljubljana Castle and Slovenian Philharmonic greening. St Patricks Day. (c)Aleksandra Jereb

Ljubljana joined in the worldwide St Patrick's Day celebrations again this year by lighting up two of its most beautiful landmarks in green as part of Tourism Ireland's Global Greening initiative. Ljubljana Castle and the Slovenian Philharmonic were "greened" from 12-17 March, while the city celebrated  with various events connected to Ireland's national holiday.

To mark the occasion, the Embassy organised a special public concert at the Philharmonic Hall. The event, entitled "Let's Paint the Town Green", featured Irish music by Slovene groups Noreia, Bog Bards and members of the Ljubljana Mandolin Orchestra, and dancing from the students of the School of Irish Dancing (“Šola irskega plesa”) in Ljubljana.
