Employment Opportunity at the Embassy of Ireland, Freetown

The Embassy of Ireland, Freetown, is currently inviting applications for the post of Driver.
The successful candidate will engage in the following tasks, and will report directly to the Facilities/Transport Manager.

    • Drive colleagues to/from meetings in Freetown, and on occasion on monitoring trips elsewhere in Sierra Leone, ensuring punctuality and safety
    • Maintain a high level of cleanliness of the vehicle, engine, body interior, and undercarriage regularly.
    • At the beginning of every shift, carry out the daily fleet inspection of all vehicles (confirming documents, equipment, adequate fluids and fuel) and double check inspections carried out by other driver(s). Arrange for maintenance of the vehicle at agreed intervals.
    • Liaise with the garage and check the vehicles after maintenance to ensure that all maintenance issues have been satisfactorily addressed. Report any deficiencies or problems immediately to your supervisor.
    • Complete the vehicle log book as required and carry out all duties pertaining within the specified timeframes. Ensure that the vehicle log sheets are completed accurately and correctly at all times.
    • Maintain absolute compliance with traffic regulations at all times and strict adherence to all Embassy of Ireland safety procedures and regulations;
    • Duties may vary from time to time, based upon the requirements of the Mission and may include other general office duties.

Required Qualifications for the post

    • Minimum of 5 years driving experience.
    • Responsible and courteous demeanour.
    • Applicant should have completed the Senior Secondary School Education.
    • Written and verbal communication skills.
    • Previous experience working with an international organisation is desirable.
