Our Role

We work to promote and protect Irish interests in Malawi whether it is by promoting Irish economic and business interests, helping the Irish community in Malawi or by supporting the excellent relations between our governments. We also provide a range of key consular services to visiting Irish citizens and residents in Malawi.

Our Services

Ireland-Malawi Relations

The Embassy of Ireland in Lilongwe, Malawi, formally opened its doors in 2007. His Excellency Gerry Cunningham is the fourth Irish ambassador accredited in that time.

Development Cooperation

The Irish Aid programme in Malawi was established in 2007. The current programme is guided by our 2016-2020 Country Strategy Paper.

Irish Community in Malawi

We support Irish people in Malawi, as they develop ties, raise awareness of Irish culture and create a positive image of Ireland in Malawi.

Doing Business with Ireland

The Embassy works to promote Irish economic interests as an important part of our role.
