Information for Irish people emigrating from and returning to Ireland

Emigrant News

Are you thinking of moving from Ireland to Luxembourg or to another EU country?

If so, this “Guide to Moving Within the EU” will give you detailed practical information. It also provides useful information for people who wish to return to Ireland. It is not a legally binding document and is not exhaustive.

If you have moved to Luxembourg as a naturalised Irish citizen (i.e. if you got Irish citizenship based on your residency in Ireland) and you want to retain Irish citizenship, you should fill in Form 5 which is an annual registration and declaration of intention to retain Irish citizenship by a naturalised Irish citizen residing outside Ireland. More information is also available in Emigrant News
