How to Apply for a Passport

Apply Online

This is the fastest and cheapest way to get your first Irish passport or renew your passport. Once you have your photo, it only takes about ten minutes!

Passport Online is the only way to apply for an Irish Passport in your country.

Passport Online will return your passport book, passport card and relevant supporting documentation directly to you.

Irish citizens who have previously held an Irish passport can now apply for their Passport Book and/or Passport Card on line at:

If you are not eligible, or do not wish, to apply online, you can apply through the Embassy using an APS2 application form. The form is available in Irish (APS2G) and in English (APS2E) at the Embassy of Ireland in Nairobi, Kenya. The form is not downloadable.

Fees

The fee depends on the type of passport you apply for:

Standard Passports
Standard 10-year passport €95.00
Large 66-page, 10 year passport €125.00
Standard 5-year passport for those under 18 years €45.00
Online Passports
Standard 10-year passport: €80.00
Large 66-page, 10 year passport: €110.00
Passport Card €35.00
Standard passport plus passport card  €105.00
Large passport plus passport card €135.00

Emergency Passports (issued in limited circumstances only)

Only intended for people who have lost their passport, or who have had their passport stolen, and must urgently travel home. Only valid for one single trip - €30 plus an out of hours fee of €80.

Passport Certification Fee is €40.

We do not accept cards at the embassy, but you can pay in cash or by cheque.

Fees can also be paid in Kenyan Shillings, please contact the Embassy for the current fees.

Passport Applications can be delivered by a delivery person or by a reputable courier without coming to the Embassy.

If you choose to post your application, we strongly recommend that you use registered mail or a reputable courier service. The Embassy cannot be held responsible for applications or documents lost in transit.
