Ireland’s Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Mr. Michael Creed T.D., will visit Japan from 12-15 November.

Minister Creed will lead a delegation of Irish food sector companies to Japan, and use the visit to highlight Ireland’s reputation as a producer of high quality, safe and sustainably produced food.

This is the first major food-related visit to Japan by a delegation in the Irish food sector since July’s groundbreaking political agreement on the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement.

While in Japan, the Minister will hold meetings with his political counterparts and Japanese Government officials, building on the strong political and diplomatic links between the two countries, which will support the advancement of future relationships in the agriculture and food sectors.

Minister Creed will meet with key partners for Irish companies in the meat and dairy sector and highlight Ireland’s pioneering sustainability initiative ‘Origin Green’. He will also use a number of speaking engagements to address Japan’s leading industry, media and food professionals on the topics of Ireland’s commitment to high quality produce, production methods and sustainability.

Welcoming the visit, Ambassador of Ireland to Japan, Ms. Anne Barrington said: “Agri-food is Ireland’s most important indigenous sector and Irish beef, representing almost one third of the sector, was exported to 84 countries around the world last year. Our quality, safety and production values are high and, now more than ever, with our Government’s world-class sustainability programme successfully in place, is the time to showcase these achievements.

“I am delighted that, during the year when we celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, this visit will raise awareness of Ireland’s excellent offering. And I look forward to the speedy completion of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement by the end of this year.”

11 月 12 日から 15 日にかけ、アイルランドから農業・食糧・海洋大臣マイケル・クリードが来日します。

クリード大臣は食糧部門のアイルランド企業訪問団を率いて来日し、アイルランドの高品質で安全かつ サステイナブルな食品生産について促進することを目的としています。

これは、今年 7 月に EU と日本の経済連携協定（EPA）交渉が大枠合意して以来初めてとなる、アイル ランドの食糧業界による大規模な訪日です。

大臣は滞在中、政治・外交関係における連携強化、ひいては農業・食糧分野における関係促進のため、 日本政府のカウンターパートと会談する予定です。

クリード大臣は、食肉・酪農部門においてアイルランド企業の主要なパートナーである日本企業と会談 し、アイルランドのサステイナビリティに関する先駆的な取り組み「オリジン・グリーン」について説 明します。また、日本の主要な産業界、メディア、食品関係の専門家などを対象に、高品質の食品生産、 製造方法、サステイナビリティに対するアイルランドのコミットメントについて数多く講演を行います。

クリード大臣の来日を歓迎し、アン・バリントン駐日アイルランド大使は次のように述べています。 「農業食品分野はアイルランドの最も重要な土着産業であり、その約 3 分の 1 を占めるアイルランド産 牛肉は昨年世界 84 カ国に輸出されています。アイルランドは高い品質、安全性とプロダクション・バリ ューを誇り、さらに、政府による世界レベルのサステイナビリティ・プログラムも整備され、今こそ私 どもの実績をご紹介する時です。」
