'Go Green' for St. Patrick's Day in 2017!
14 parades across Japan - 25th Tokyo parade - 2 day I Love Festival in Yoyogi Park
Ireland's Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Ms. Anne Barrington, today launched the official programme fo events for St. Patrick's Day in Japan in 2017. Celebration of Ireland's national day has captured the hearts of Japan's fun-loving people, and dozens of events will take place across the country throughout March.
This year, there are a total of 14 parades, from Tokyo to Okinawa, and many more parties, festivals and music sessions taking place in communities all across the country. In Tokyo's Yoyogi Park, the hugely popular I Love Ireland Festival, an Irish cultural experience for all the family, will be back for the fourth year running, and takes place over two days from 18-19 March.
"St. Patrick's Day is a global celebration of all things Irish, and I'm delighted to see that the celebrations in Japan are going to be bigger and better than ever in 2017.
"This year, we also celebrate the 60th year of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Japan and the 25th year of the Tokyo St Patrick's Day parade. There are more reasons than ever for people to get involved and 'go green' for the day" said Ambassador Barrington.
Ireland's national day, St. Patrick's Day, takes place on 17 March, and is named after the fifth-century saint who introduced Christianity to Ireland. St. Patrick's Day has been celebrated in Ireland for nearly 1,200 years, and in the United States for more than 250 years. Every year, millions of people around world join the parades and parties and put on green clothes to celebrate this special day.
This year, St. Patrick's Day merchandise will be stocked in Don Quixote, Kishis and Claire's Accessories, and there will be an Irish campaign in Ito Yokado.
I invite everyone to join in the St. Patrick's Day fun at their nearest festival or parade, and to share in our amazing, international cultural experience. If you can, don't forget to wear something green!" said Ambassador Barrington.

セント・パトリックス・デー 2017 ‘Go Green’ グリーンを身につけて=
アン・バリントン駐日アイルランド大使は本日、日本記者クラブにおいて、今年開催されるセント・パトリックス・デー関連イベントについて発表しました。アイルランドのナショナルデーは、楽しいことが大好きな日本人の心を捉え、3月の一ヵ月間、全国各地でイベントが予定されています。
「セント・パトリックス・デー・パレード」が東京から沖縄まで全国14ヵ所で行われるほか、お祭りやコンサートなどさまざまなイベントが各地で予定されています。東京の代々木公園では、家族みんなでアイルランド文化を体験できるイベント「アイラブアイルランド・フェスティバル」が4回目の開催を迎え、初の2日間開催（3月18日・19日）となります。
バリントン大使は、次のように述べています。
「セント・パトリックス・デーは、アイルランドにまつわる全てのものを祝う、世界的なお祭りです。日本でもこのお祝いがますます大きく、素晴らしいものになっていることを喜ばしく思います。」
「2017年はアイルランドと日本の外交関係樹立60周年であり、また、セント・パトリックス・デー・パレード東京が25回目の開催を迎えます。この記念の年をきっかけに、更に多くの方が、グリーンを身につけてイベントに参加してくださることを期待しております。」
「セント・パトリックス・デー」は、5 世紀にアイルランドへキリスト教を伝えた人物で、アイルランドの守護聖人である聖パトリックを記念する日。アイルランドでは1,200 年以上、アメリカでも250 年以上もの歴史がある祝日です。毎年世界中の人達がこの特別な日を祝ってアイルランドのシンボルカラー・グリーンを身につけ、パレードやパーティを楽しみます。
今年は、ドン・キホーテ（全国15店舗）、キッシーズ、クレアーズの各店で、セント・パトリックス・デーに身につけられるグリーンのグッズが販売されるほか、全国のイトーヨーカドーでもキャンペーンが展開されることになりました。
バリントン大使は次のように呼びかけています。
