Visit of President Higgins to Italy

President Michael D. Higgins took part in a three-day official visit to Italy from 15th to 17th June. The President was accompanied by his wife, Sabina Higgins.

President Higgins officially opened the Irish National Day at EXPO 2015

In Milan the President officially opened the Irish National Day at EXPO 2015. The theme of Ireland’s participation at EXPO 2015 is ‘Origin Green’, which encapsulates Ireland’s drive to become a world-leading producer of sustainably produced food. This theme also addresses the central theme of EXPO 2015: ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’.

The President then travelled to Rome to meet with the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale Palace.
