Ambassador’s Message, 16 March 2015

Happy St Patrick’s Day

Ambassador’s Message, 16 March 2015

Here in Israel St Patrick's Day coincides with a vital event in the life of a democracy when the people go to the polling booths to choose their political leaders and determine the composition of the next government. It is an honour and a privilege to be here as Ambassador and to witness this ennobling process unfold, to listen to the debates and to await the outcome of the people's deliberations.

St Patrick's Day gives us pause to think of Ireland too, even amid the excitement of election time. A thriving democracy and a resilient people, we Irish can look with pride on our achievements as an independent nation, less than 100 years old. We can look too to the great relationship that we have with our Diaspora, some seventy million strong around the world.

It is my honour to share with you the St Patrick's Day Message of our President.

Mary and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very happy St Patrick's Day.

Best wishes,

Eamonn
