New Embassy celebrates first St. Patrick's Day in Jakarta

The seventeenth of March - St. Patrick's Day and the national day of Ireland - was celebrated in Jakarta this year with particular energy and enthusiasm. The St. Patrick's Society Charity Ball was the first event. Organised by the Irish community, it attracted a record crowd and raised a record contribution to charity.

The embassy's St. Patrick's day reception - its first major public reception - welcomed Indonesian, Irish and other guests for an evening of Irish food, drink and music. The Indonesian government was represented by Minister Yuddi Chrisnandi and Minister Yohana Yambise, who spoke warmly about the potential for closer relations between the two countries.
