Ambassador Byrne Nason presents credentials in Monaco

Ambassador Byrne Nason presented credentials to Prince Albert II of Monaco on 24 February 2015. Upon arrival at the Palace, she reviewed a guard of honour before having a private audience with HSH Prince Albert II. During their meeting, Prince Albert emphasised his own personal attachment to Ireland and his interest in working ever more closely to deepen relations between Ireland and Monaco. The Ambassador briefed Prince Albert on the Irish economic recovery. They discussed medtech, sports technology and financial services as sectors with potential for bilateral cooperation with Monaco. The Prince also spoke dearly of his Irish heritage through his mother’s ties to Mayo. The Ambassador presented the Prince with Irish gifts and highlighted that 2015 is the Year of Irish Design. While in Monaco the Ambassador also visited the Princess Grace Irish library and cultural centre where she viewed the collection and discussed major cultural themes for 2015 and 2016.

During her visit to the south of France, the Ambassador also met the Mayor of Cannes and the Deputy Mayor of Nice to strengthen links between Ireland and the Côte d'Azur. Discussions covered the possibility of “Greening” public buildings for Saint Patrick’s Day and potential for future cooperation in the areas of tourism, business and culture.
