Brigidfest Melbourne

Brigidfest

Melbourne
14 February 2016

In 2016 to commemorate the centenary of the Easter Rising and in line with the Brigidfest committee’s commitment to celebrate Irish women, the speaker will be Maeve O’Leary who will be talking about her grandmother Lucy Agnes Smith, a member of Cumann na mBan, who was involved in the fighting at the GPO during the Easter Rising.

The Embassy of Ireland is pleased to support this event which highlights the important, but often forgotten, role played by women in the 1916 Rising.

Brigidfest has been held annually since 2004 at the Celtic Club in Melbourne is a community event that honours and celebrates Irish women. The event is held on a Sunday near to the 1st February, the feast day of St Brigid.
