Genealogy

Each year the Embassy receives many requests from Irish citizens to trace family members who emigrated to Argentina in the 19th and early 20th centuries. While the Embassy is unable to assist with individual requests, there are a number of useful sources available.

A debt of gratitude is owed to Eduardo Coghlan for his research into the genealogy of Irish-Argentina.

Records of births, marriages and deaths are available locally in each municipality in Argentina and can be inspected on appointment.
