Macau Celebration of Yeats 150

Since its establishment in 2014, the Consulate General of Ireland in Hong Kong has been working to enhance relations between Ireland and Hong Kong and Macau SARs. A particular focus of our work is in the area of cultural relations and we are delighted to be joining the global celebrations of the life, work and legacy of W. B. Yeats.

Irish Food & Drink Showcases in Macau & Hong Kong

Macau & Hong Kong collectively serve as a 'shop window' for China & the region, as well as markets in their own right with 80 million visitors last year. Working closely with Europe's oldest culinary institute (Cathal Brugha Street - part of DIT), we have organised a week-long series of events in Macau & Hong Kong to promote Irish food & to build lasting links with local culinary schools.

Event with Dan O' Brien of IIEA & UCD

The Consul General of Ireland to Hong Kong and Macau, Peter Ryan, will host a special event with Dan O' Brien, Chief Economist at the Institute of International & European Affairs, one of Ireland’s leading think tanks. Dan is Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the School of Politics & International Relations at UCD.

The Consul General of Ireland to Hong Kong and Macau, Peter Ryan, together with the co-founders of the Irish Whiskey Society of Hong Kong and Macau, Ian Carroll, Chair of the Irish Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong & Niall Murray, Chair of the Irish Chamber of Commerce of Macau, will host a special event with expert Martin Lynch to introduce Teeling Irish Whiskey.

Farewell to Ms. Celeste Kwong

The Consul General of Ireland paid tribute this week to Ms. Celeste Kwong, who retired after almost 8 years service with the former Honorary Consul & more recently to the new Consulate team. Ms. Kwong was also thanked by Lynne Mulholland, President of St Patrick's Society, Ian Carroll, Chair of the Irish Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong and Donal Boylan of the Ireland Fund of China.

First Friday Business Breakfast

The Consulate hosts our “First Friday Business Breakfast” on the first Friday of every month from 8 – 9am. This is an informal networking event, a chance to make new contacts and exchange news and updates within the Irish Community in Hong Kong. All are welcome to join us for a coffee and a chat.

Irish Whiskey promotion initiative by Consulate General

The Consulate General of Ireland Hong Kong & Macau has announced its participation in the eighth HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair (Wine & Spirits Fair), which will be held between 5 and 7 November 2015 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.

Every year on 16 June, Bloomsday - a celebration of the life and work of Irish writer James Joyce and his masterpiece Ulysses - is marked around the world. This year in celebration of Bloomsday, the Consulate General of Ireland, the Irish Chamber of Commerce and the Hong Kong International Literary Festival invited Mr Robert Berry to visit Hong Kong and Macau.
