The Consulate hosted a special exhibition, Bloomsdays Abroad, from 16 to 21 June, which was launched at a reception in the Consulate on 16 June.

Bloomsdays Abroad: An Exhibition of Art, Texts, and Letters, a fascinating and unique collection, shows texts and artworks by Hayden Murphy and Hugh Bryden, which were created and collected over many years of celebrating Joyce and Bloomsday around the world. It also includes responses to the collection by literary figures, including Seamus Heaney and Brian Friel.

At the launch, Consul General Bourne made a speech highlighting the history of exchange and mutual inspiration between Irish and Scottish literature. The event also featured readings and recitals from Joyce’s work by a number of contributors including the novelist Bernard MacLaverty.
