Document walk-in service for Leaving Certificate Students, 2nd and 5th- 8th September

The Department of Foreign Affairs will be operating an urgent walk-in service for those Leaving Certificate students that may need their results or documents Authenticated or Apostilled for use abroad. The walk in service will be available on the 2nd of September and from the 5th – 8th September at 42-47 Lower Mount St, Dublin. No appointment will be needed and non-urgent applications can still be sent by post. Results will need to be notarised before the Department can apostille or authenticate them.

In announcing this service, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney, T.D., said: “I wish to congratulate all Leaving Certificate students on their results this year. We know that a Leaving Certificate can bring with it further opportunities for learning or working abroad. My Department will operate an urgent walk-in service for students that may need documents stamped quickly before they can travel abroad, as part of the services we provide to citizens.

Notes to Editors

  • When using Irish documents overseas, for business or personal reasons, you may need to 'authenticate' or 'Apostille' them. The Department of Foreign Affairs are the competent authority who confirm that a signature, seal or stamp is from an Irish public official or body and who issue a physical apostille or authentication stamp on the document.
  • Many students need their documents authenticated before taking up courses or work abroad and this service is being provided for those who may need this urgently done.
